OK, I'm looking for a simple text editor, like notepad for windows, I don't really need any developer feature, just a simple app, that's all I long for :p

And I need some recommendations, thank you very much! :)

Text Mate is the best.. Simple thus powerful

TextWrangler for me.
It is free and the Grep (regular expression) search and replace functions are awesome.

As above...Textedit comes built in, and will do exactly what you want. No need to spend money on third party stuff.

Should have said.....It's in your applications folder..

Accidentally gone, deleted by girlfriend.

While Macromates did open source TextMate, it hasn't received a notable update for a while.

Oddly enough, I did get an update just a couple of days ago.

In fact, TextMate 2 updates a little bit too often for my taste.

I'll throw one, especially as the OP was not needing developer features.

I have been using this one for a while. It's a Markdown editor, which has a live preview option. If you choose not to have this, its a plain text window.

No fancy extras, just simple.

For the moment its free as its in beta, so you have nothing to lose.

:)
