Best software for (mkv) video playing ? (VLC/MplayerX/Other?)

Actually never thought about it, which I guess means it's doing a good job. I've tried a few other players but there is always something missing with them, so I always ending up going back to VLC. Which has led me to stop trying other players and I am just sticking with what works.

Last time I looked in detail Movist, demand on resources was significantly less than VLC, which adds up as longer runtimes off the mans supply.

I was a long term VLC user. Some MKV files wouldn't play or crashed VLC. Tried MPV and it played all MKV's pefectly. "Faster" and cleaner interface than VLC as well...
