Hey everyone. My macbook has been feeling a bit sluggish lately. Someone has told me that upgrading to an SSD would make my life way better. So my question is what type of SSD and which brand would you recommend for this model Macbook pro? i'm looking for at least over 500gb SSD. If anyone has had an experience upgrading this particular macbook that would be very helpful!

Macbook pro 15" mid 2012
2.3 Ghz Intel Core i7
8gb 1600 Mhz DDR3
Typical Mac harddrive
Nvidia Geforce GT 650m

Thanks!

I vote Samsung 850 Pro/Evo. They are both fantastic drives. The pro will be 512GB and the Evo will be 500GB due to provisioning for wear leveling.

Any of the crucial drives will serve you well the BX100 series is the cheapest and the MX200 the newest they are all compatible.

Just to add to the consensus, I like to stick with either samsung or crucial. It's hard to go wrong with either, but I will say that the samsung evo 850 is a very popular upgrade for a lot of folks with macbook pros.

Thanks a lot for the help! seems like I cant go wrong with either the samsung or crucial SSDs. leaning more towards the 850 evo.
