Hi everyone,

This will be my first time upgrading my phone since my trusty old 3GS.

Here's how I think this will play out, please confirm if this is the best strategy:

1) Morning of the day I pick it up (I would love to say 21st, but don't want to jinx anything): backup to iCloud (or just make sure it was)

2) Due the transfer at my carrier's: get new sim, give away first born, turn off old phone, start new phone

3) During setup of phone, on-site, I should choose restore from iCloud backup and let things play out: restore for 7-15 minutes, then let the app downloads, etc...

4) Convert 3gs to an iPod Touch for my son (aforementioned first born)

Is it that simple or I forgot something?

Thanks!

That is how I intend to transition from my 3GS to the 5 (minus repurposing the 3GS).

Step 6) Sell iphone 5 a month before iPhone 6 or next new iPhone release for a few $$ less than new

Step 7) Acquire new iPhone for only a few hundred + sale from old iPhone

step 8) repeat above steps

But to answer your post, yes, that's a sound upgrade plan.
