Hey guys,

I have a mid-2014 Macbook Pro 15' that I use with the Dell P2715Q and it works great. Recently I have been considering a dock so all I'd need to do is plug one cable into my machine instead of connecting a separate cable for a keyboard, mouse, and display. But I am also looking for something that will work with my work laptop which is a Gen 2 Lenovo X1 Carbon (Windows). Currently I have been looking at the following docks:

http://www.targus.com/us/thunderbolt-2-4k-universal-docking-station-dock210usz
https://www.iogear.com/product/GTD732/

Will either of these work? Also looking for whatever recommendations you guys may have since these are on the pricey side. Not necessary but a bonus would be a dock that could support dual 4k monitors (I do understand I will not be able to run both at 60hz).

My other question will be that since I will be connecting the dock to my Mac via the thunderbolt port, will n Thunderbolt to USB adapter work on the Windows machine? (since most Windows dock connect to the machine's USB port to get everything that is connected to the dock)

Also just out of curiosity, what resolution can my Macbook's USB 3.0 port output? And at what frequency?

Thanks!

I never said they output 4K, I was just wondering what's the max resolution they could output. The docks I have listed are Thunderbolt ones so they will output 4K. I also already know my MacBook outputs 4K.

Through USB 3.0 you will get 1080 at most!
