Hey, I have a mid-2012 13” MBP 2.9ghz 16gb ram and love it. Got it because it was the last user MBP with user replaceable memory, ssd, and optical, etc. (even though i know you can upgrade the SSD chips or whatever in newer MBPs). Anyhow, it’s been great and I am keeping it but need a second laptop one with a 15” Retina display. Not looking to spend over 850 probably would prefer to spend under 700. Do I target a 2013-2015? I cold just go after a 15” 2012 Retina seems you can find them for under $500 but they getting kinda old. Thoughts?

One more vote for the 2015.
Don't buy ANY 15" MBP 2016 or later -- keyboard issues.

Another vote for the 2015. My daughter and son-in-law have one, and it's been bulletproof, unlike their 2017, which has had the screen and logic board replaced.

My 2012 has been great. Maybe runs a bit hot but nothing a new fan and mac fan control didn’t fix. Regardless, I got it years ago and need Retina now and larger screen.
