I’ve been using Thoth for ages, and in fact keep an iMac on MacOS 10.14.6 so that I can keep using it. Looking for a comparable quality newsreader that will work on my 2018 MacMini (currently OS 10.15, but upgrading to OS 11 soon) with downloading huge numbers of headers, automatic decoding of multi part binaries, etc. does anyone have any suggestions?

That looks great. Definitely gonna download the trial and give it a spin. Last time I checked, it seemed there was nothing anywhere near as polished as that looks.
All of the options here look pretty decent, although with somewhat of a learning curve. Another option I thought of was to get a 500GB Samsung T7 SSD (about $80) and just install OS 10 Mojave, Thoth, and the few other things that won't run under OS 11. I think that may be my plan of attack until I figure out the nuances of Usenapp.
