I’m looking at buying my first iMac. Would like to get to the most for my dollar and spec. Prefer 27” model. Thanks.

Depends where you are I guess. Down Under Apple has sold all refurbed iMacs through dealers alas, I would go to Apple Refurb every time as I don't trust Amazon at all.

So what model 27” is currently best value for money ? Or should I wait for new release that might lower current models ?

It's anticipated a new iMac will be announced in 5 days at WWDC. Wait at least until then.

I recommend an Apple refurb for lots of reasons:

- like-new condition; parts replaced if needed
- 1 year Apple warranty just like new products
- option to buy Applecare+
- the refurb process is documented and many here can vouch for the quality of refurbs
- easy returns same as new Apple products (by mail or in-store)
- can sometimes find a higher spec for the same amount as a new base model
- new shrink-wrapped box and all accessories, same as new

I agree with @nambuccaheadsau; I don't trust Amazon "renewed" products either. Its description is: "Products on Amazon Renewed have been inspected and tested by qualified suppliers to work and look like new, and come with the Amazon Renewed Guarantee."

The Amazon Renewed Guarantee is 90 days. You can go further and look at the qualifications to sell renewed products on Amazon if you're interested in their process.

Today the US Refurb Store doesn't have iMacs in stock, but this changes often, so it might be worth it to you to check often.

Thanks. All that makes sense.

There's no contest here.

Apple refurbished is the best choice.

I WOULD NOT buy ANY "refurbished" Mac from anyone else.

I here you. I have an iPhone XS Max refurbed by Apple. All good. Except for the back glass creaking lol.
