Best Video Editing Freeware?

As part of a graphic design project (where my strengths are) I need to create a very basic video (where my strengths are not). All I need is a black screen with some text on (eg. a song title) and an audio track in the background. Exactly like what you would find on youtube. What's the easiest way to do this?

It wasn't really a Mac related question, as I havn't yet got mine. Obviously i know i'm on a Mac forum, but I know you guys are pretty helpful so i thought i'd give it a go

Kino for Linux might fill your need. Don't know if there's a Windows binary for it though.
