Some forums require the posters to post an image url link rather than uploading the photo directly. What is the best way to get an image url if the image is: a. on my iphone, b. on my Mac laptop. Thanks.

You must post it to a hosting site somewhere on the Internet. You cannot link to an image stored on your phone or personal computer.

I see quite a few here that use either Flickr or Imgur.
Or, maybe Instagram, or Pinterest, or Deviantart, or Photobucket, or Imageshack, or Google it out for your own choice.

Postimage.org works well with iOS. No need for an app that asks for permission to access your entire photo library.
