I have a Studio Display on the way and I'm planning on dropping my thunderbolt dock and using the ports on the display instead. What's the best way to get gigabit ethernet at full speed? Should I buy the Belkin USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter from the Apple store?

I’m planning on doing exactly the same and losing my hub. From researching the best bet - to avoid kernel panics and get the full speed - seems to be the D-Link DUB-E250. Which is what I’ve ordered, so we will see…

I actually still have the old Thunderbolt 2 ethernet adapter along with a Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter I used during that transition, so that's my solution.

Edit: Oops, duh, that won't work. Needs to be a true USB-C adapter, not Thunderbolt.

That wouldn't work when using the rear USBC ports on the back of the Studio Display, as there is only the one Thunderbolt 3 port which must be used to connect to the laptop.

I'm also planning to use my ethernet connection through a thunderbolt dock, but it only will work through two thunderbolt connections going into the M1 MacBook Pro as the Studio Display has only one tb port. : (

Doh, can't believe I didn't think that one through. Guess it's the Belkin USB-C ethernet adapter for me!
