Best way to install Office?

I've got Office 2008 already on Mac. Is it better to uninstall 2008, then install 2011? Or is it better to install 2011 on top of 2008?

Installing 2011 over 2008 shouldn't be a problem, but you can first unintall the 2008 version if you want to be sure.

Personally, I've stuck with 2004. I tried '08, wasn't crazy about it, went back to '04.

1. Because I paid good money for each of them.
2. There is no reason to throw them away.
3. Office-compatibility is a hope; not a fact. I experienced too many instances where one version would not open an Office file properly, but a different version would.
4. No. 3 is particularly true of Office:win. Because Office 2011 is supposed to be more like Office:win, I am not taking chances.

That us correct. In my case, My Office 2004, 2008, 2011 folders sit side-by-side in my Applications folder. Their support files get along nicely in my Microsoft User Data folder in my Documents folder.

Correct... they are complete different programs which do not interfere with each other. They will each have their own directory.

I uninstalled '08 after installing '11, but it wasn't necessary.
