i know i dont HAVE to back anything up, but i guess what im asking is is there another way to back it up than having to buy an external HD? if not, are there any programs that dont require a backup that can get me to run windows xp on my macbook and are free

I don't think you have any idea what you are doing here.

backing up before you make changes to your disk is ALWAYS a good idea.

Backing up requires some sort of other media (CD, DVD, or external hard drive).

If you want to run bootcamp, feel free not to back up.

The program is just trying to save you from yourself.

well i dont really have a choice with BootCamp, because whenever i try to partition the disk it says i have to because some files could not be moved

Here's the deal. You should always make routine backups of your HD, be it a PC or Mac. Otherwise, if your HD should fail, you will loose everything on your HD. That is why some of us have describe making routine backups.

I would recommend doing this before proceeding with Bootcamp.
 
is there any way to install BootCamp w/o backing up my disk, cuz i really dont have an extra 60-80 bucks for a 30GB external drive right now

Free up some space on your HD to let Bootcamp to partition it correctly.

P.S.: this thread is pure LOL :D
