I like reading PDF ebooks while on the train etc. but with the small screen of my iPod Touch 4G I find myself zooming in so the text fills the screen only to have to repeat the procedure when I move to the next page. Is there a way to prevent this, or are there better ways to read PDF files than using rgw iBooks app? I'm using IOS 6.13

Use Dropbox or a different PDF app. I like the Dropbox ability because it's fast and doesn't re-zoom. Favouriting files will cache them on your device so you can do that at home over wifi.

I downloaded and installed Dropbox but I think its use is for something else (transferring files via WiFi) than my request (reading PDFs).
I already have loads of PDF files on my iPod (which I've dragged from my Mac's Finder over to the iPod section in iTunes and want to read there. They all show up within "iBooks". So all I need is a decent reading app which will allow me to continue to the next page without having to rezoom/reposition the text every time as with iBooks.

You also suggested using another PDF app. I've downloaded several, but I can't figure out how to access the PDFs I already have with them and they also seem to be geared towards buying/downloading ebooks from online. I have no need for that. Just a plain and simple PDF reader :)

Goodreader

Hi Macstatic - for PDFs, I use iBooks or Goodreader on my iPad 2 - NOW, I have an iPod for music mainly but can't imagine w/ my aging eyes trying to read PDFs on that device - :)

But, why not get an iPad Mini? Wife has a new one and is doing a lot of reading (books, mags, PDFs, etc.) - not sure that you want another device, but just a thought - Dave

Get Foxit reader for iphone. It will allow text reflow and lets you view only the text. Its not great for image or graphic heavy pdfs though. Best part is that its free !

If you're using iTunes to load PDFs on your device, you'll need to use iTunes to move your PDFs to whatever app you settle on. Unless you opt for a cloud service (like Dropbox as suggested above. The Dropbox app includes a basic PDF viewer).

I suggest GoodReader. It doesn't un-zoom when turning pages.

There are several apps that I have for reading PDF Files, but they can't handle a large file, so I got Adobe Reader and it's fast. As far as reading, you have vertical and horizontal and some other neat features.
Good luck.
