Hello. I got a couple of pdf files to send by email. Most files are about 1.5M. One is 4.5M. I know that one could reduce the file size via Preview or Colorsync. However, after the filtering, the file size either remains to be the same or only reduced insignificantly. Yet, the quality often goes very poorly. Is there a good way to reduce the file size (e.g. 4.5M to about 1M) without scarifying the quality? Thanks.

Thanks for the very useful info. I found that for documents with figures, I need to use one of the 300dpi options. For text-only documents, the lowest setting is good enough.
Do you think Abrobat will produce better results in terms of smaller size with better quality?
This method produces sub-par results in my experience. PDF's weren't readable on my Kindle. I use PDF Shrink on the iPhone setting and it works well.
