Best way to resize multiple pics

I have about 100 photos i need to send to someone. I want to make them 800x600 and reduce the file size at the same time. What can i use to do this, i've read that i could do something in automator to do so but i don't have a clue. Thanks for any suggestions.

Do you have Photoshop?
Set up a custom Action.

Or a simple automator action called "Scale Images". Just one step after choosing the photos.
