Hey all. So, I'm considering upgrading to one of this year's iPad Pros from my 10.5" Pro. Normally, when I upgrade I'd trade in my current iPad in-person at the Apple Store to offset the cost. Obviously, that's not an option at the moment unless I wait for them to reopen before upgrading. And even then, I think that I saw the most I'd get from Apple for it is $200-something. That said, would there be a better option to sell my iPad?

Swappa if you don't want to deal in person. If you don't mind selling locally you can sell it quickly on Facebook marketplace or craigslist if you price it a little lower than the going rate.

There's concerns about doing mail trade-ins with Apple's trade-in partner, Phobio. You can search Macrumors and elsewhere for feedback about them. For trades I like cashforyourmac.com and macmeanoffer.com.

I would totally recommend Swappa. It is a safe place to buy Apple products.

I bought a new iPad Air3 in December online with in store pickup. Chose the trade in for my iPad 2 Air2 for $100. But the restriction was I couldn’t bring my trade in to The store, they would send me a box to use when sending it in. I never received the box, called support 3 times following up and each time was told, we’re really busy and it was delayed but you (me) will get the box within 5 days and you can send it back then. Box never arrived and I never received the credit for my trade in
This is without a doubt the worst customer service I’ve ever received from Apple. I’m disappointed.
Still have the old iPad, will sell it on line, how much can I get? 64GB, excellent condition

I recently sold my old iPad on Swappa and can vouch for it as well. The process was pretty painless and sold pretty quickly

On Apple's site, it does have the option to trade in your tablet for credit toward a new iPad. Although you'd probably fetch more money if you sell on Swappa.

Sorry you experienced bad Phobio service. For in-store trades, I've just walked in and done the trade and new device sale there. Haven't tried it starting online, but I can imagine there isn't an option for in-store trade-in with online ordering.

When the stores open again, you could take in your device to trade for something else if you wanted to. In-store trades are for iOS devices, but not for Macs which can only be done by mail.

Or you can look on Swappa for the same item to see what others are asking for that device and what they got under recently sold.

Took your advice and listed my iPad with Swappa. Sold in 3 days, got twice as much as I would have when trade in was in play

Thanx for the advice

Why not keep it as a secondary ipad for situations where you normally would worry about dropping an ipad.
