The LU1400 phone from 2008, also with an LCD display made by LG, had a resolution of 333PPI, more than the iPhone 4.

Your original wording made it seem like you thought the PPI of the screen changed as you moved away.

Move back far enough and any screen will look good....but you won't be able to resolve anything on it. Moving even further back the 3G and 3GS could also attain retinal resolution, but could you imagine trying to read anything on the screen from that far away?
 
the level of stupidity of some of the posters in this thread in regards to what the 'retina display' is and their blatant apple fanboyism has made me feel dirty by association.


and yeah, i own an iphone 4.
