Many of you obviously own a MBP + a desktop at home . But how do you synchronize to have the same files on both computers ?
supposing you go on x days trip with the MB , send and receive xx email, modified XX files etc... what happen when you go back home and start your desktop ?
and the other way around when you go onto a new trip ?
I never got a clear and easy answer to this problem.
what program is the best to analyze all changes and synchronize ?

Well one easy thing is to use imap or exchange if your email supports it. That way if you delete an email it's gone on the server too. The other thing is to use dropboxes to share files. I don't know of anything that automatically starts to erase and change files on another computer. Why don't you just put all of the documents you add or change in your downloads folder and share them with the desktop? Just copy all the files over and sort them when done. Or use online sharing so that if you are away from your house you can get the files from home.

I use a program called ChronoSync which works flawlessly (after adjusting the synchronization criteria suitably). It is commercial software, but it has a trial period and is not terribly expensive.
