Wow, didn’t realize the situation was so complex. I have an iPad Pro 2nd generation, current iOS. Somebody please school me on the best (and best = FREE and SIMPLE) way to torrent directly on my iPad. Not entertaining jailbreaks.

Thanks

hmm... torrents? - on a non-jailbreak iPad?
wouldn't you need direct access to the file system to do that?
Meaning that you get to "entertain" yourself with a jailbreak.
There's no other choices, is there?

Yes, probably more than one way, but jailbreak comes first in any event.
What leads you to think that a jailbreak is not needed?

Because there are workarounds for lots of things, and as this forum is active, somebody ought to have tried alternate methods. Waiting for those folks to chime in.

Good luck.
You can wait, or simply do your torrent on a PC or Android phone and get it done. :)

😂😂 Yeah, I’m going to be iPad only for a gig. This is ridiculous. Not digging the browser-based methods I’ve seen so far, either. WTF Apple, plenty of legit reasons to torrent!

Why would you get an iPad Pro and then complain? Just sell it and get a real Windows laptop instead. ;)

PS: I doubt there's any legit reason to torrent. I mean what, Linux distro? On an iPad? :D

Do people on a tech forum really think there are no legitimate uses for torrents besides pirating movies and linux distros??

I’m not judging, I torrent, but what exactly are legitimate uses?

And to answer your original question, I’ve never heard of any way to do it on iOS without jail breaking.

AltStore then install iTorrent.

How safe is it to install APPS directly from ALTSORE? which goes without the Apple Security ? There is no way to make sure that it is not a Rogue APP and it will not corrupt your OS. is there ?

You’re not jailbreaking and the apps downloaded are all sandboxed like any regular app.

What does Sandbox mean ?

And by the way I just checked the FAQ's on Altstore it says right now it only has one APP called Delta ! Thats it ! lol !!

But the apps still don't go through the regular checks from the official app store.

The AltStore uses the self-signing cert workaround. In the end, you are trusting that whoever made the apps don't have any roque codes inside.

Seems easier and safer to just get a cheap Windows laptop and use official BT clients.

You have to get the IPA somewhere. I’m not going to post links, but it involves iOS and ninjas...

This isn’t exactly using iOS, but as you asked for a workaround, I’ll chime in. I use my server at home. I can find the torrents using the iPad, load them onto my server, torrent them there, and then use them on my iPad.

Now I have a DSM, but anything at all that you can remote into will work obviously, even a 35 quid rPi. Using a pi even makes it portable.

It’s not exactly torrenting with my iPad as I said. Works a treat though.
