This isn’t exactly using iOS, but as you asked for a workaround, I’ll chime in. I use my server at home. I can find the torrents using the iPad, load them onto my server, torrent them there, and then use them on my iPad.

Now I have a DSM, but anything at all that you can remote into will work obviously, even a 35 quid rPi. Using a pi even makes it portable.

It’s not exactly torrenting with my iPad as I said. Works a treat though.

I believe that's what many people ended up doing. Basically the iPad is just a "thin client" while the actual torrenting is done on another computer.

How about setting up a Raspberry Pi box to do what you need and then manage it using the iPad via browser. I’m sure there are guides out there.

I have a MacOS box running Transmission web client, but the point is that I won’t have access to this device and I want to torrent directly to the iPad.

Understood, the circumstances regarding how you were not going to have access to your MacOS box was not obvious to me. It sounded as if you needed an inexpensive replacement method of torrenting at home, not a mobile torrent solution.

Google iTorrent. Since you aren't interested in the most easy and versatile way to do it to get all the functionality you want, look up how to install and sign your own applications. It'll need to be done every 7 days, and the app is sandboxed and can only communicate with iCloud Drive....but it might have a built in media player.

iTorrent can save directly to the Files app.
