Best way to ugrade to 2.2

I have had my 3G for a few weeks now & this will be my first software upgrade. What is the best way to upgrade?

Should I upgrade iTunes first & then allow iTunes to upgrade my iPhone while docked OR should I download the file from the Apple server?

If I download the software from Apple, what do I do with the file then?

Simplest way is to just upgrade itunes then plugin your phone and check for new software updates. Install from there.

just upgrade with itues... update itunes, sync the phone, then update the software
