Best way to view/stream videos remotely

Looking for the best / easiest way to watch media from my home PC (Windows 7) on my iPad remotely. I do already have VPN setup via my home router.

so i don't have to keep my computer on all of the time, i bought a pogoplug for $30. i have a 1.5TB drive plugged into it with all of my movies.

using the pogoplug app, i can stream all of my movies to my iPad wherever i am

StreamToMe works a treat for me - though this Pogoplug thing sounds interesting.

I've used Aid Video, also. In some ways better than Plex but Plex never has any trouble with aspect ratios, which AV did for me.
