Not reformatting... refreshing it to fast and pristine "like new" condition.

I'm thinking about downgrading from Lion back to SL and since this will be a complete OS rebuild on the SSD I thought I might try. Anyone here done it before? (Crucial M4)

If I'm right you don't want it completely wiped but instead want an OS on it. If you can reformat it with Disk Utility (though you have to be running from a different disk, that could be the Snow Leopard or Lion install disk) and then install either Snow Leopard or Lion, that is your best option.
