Am wondering what the best option to choose in the Workouts app on the AW to use when lifting weights?

Simple question, thanks! I usually reply quickly.

There is a weightlifting activity type available. If not visible, select other first and then when finished you can select type.

There’s “Traditional Strength Training” which is probably your best option.

When I do mixed circuits with strength and cardio, I choose the HIIT option.

I just use the app „GymBook“ in this case (there are many others too e.g. „Strong“ or „SmartGym“).

I use the Strong app. The free version gives me all the features I need when lifting, and it logs the workout to Apple Health/Fitness.

Is this the one you’re referring to?

Traditional strength training when your doing typical workouts.

High intensity for CrossFit stuff

I don’t think it matters that much as long as YOU know what you’re doing.
