Best YouTube (and others) Downloader

Anyone have any opinion on the best YouTube, and other similar sites, video downloader?

Preferably free or v cheap. Used YTD but not paying £19 a year for it.

Use firefox as this needs Java

Flash and Video Download has been stable through several OS X and several Firefox versions.

There used to be an app called MacTube (or similar) which worked well. Not sure what happened to it or if it still exists. Google it.
