My DuckDuckGo browser includes a EweTube viewer, that eliminates all ads except the embedded ones. It works well mostly, but if I want to read/add comments, follow a link, or copy a recipe, there’s a button marked “Watch in EweTube” that allows me to do that; it works for me.
I normally go to EweTube first thing in the morning, watch any “Shorts” I may be interested in (which so far don’t include ads) and then the daily channels I watch which are not monetized (a surprising amount of them, and I always give them a Like to keep them in the Al Gore Rhythm. Once I hit a video with a commercial that just breaks right in the middle of a video/sentence, I immediately quit YT*. Then I open DuckDuck Viewer and continue any posts I hadn’t hit yet.

*If all of us would do this (quit YT as soon as an interrupting commercial started), those interrupting commercials would be taken down by the end of the week. Just sayin’.

Safari. With 1Blocker and SponsorBlock.

„But what about listening in the background?“
Simple.
Video in Full-Screen, put Safari in background and activate videoplay from the Control Center.

I don‘t need a YouTube app. It just forces me to sign up and watch ads.

Some random person on Brave forums using Windows who doesn't know how do disable services says it's malware? I'm going to uninstall it right now.

Please, by all means, continue using a crypto miner disguised as a “browser”, founded by a terrible person, maintained and advertised by crypto bros. I don’t really care, it’s your computer, not mine. I would like to object that it was a viable YouTube app though. This specific crypto miner (“web browser”) is able to play video, but it doesn’t do it better than Safari.

No. It’s a scam.

Even if it is a scam, it's still useful for the specific purpose of using YouTube on iOS.
That's the only reason I keep it around.

I don't use it on macOS as Firefox with a couple great extensions is a first class YouTube experience (better than YT Premium).

Having an ad free experience on my TV, which I primarily watch YouTube on, where I can't simply use an ad blocker.

I used care about this also, which is why I was on YT Premium, and I found the experience so lacking that I was always controlling it with my iPhone anyhow.

It dawned on me ... "hey, you may as well just Airplay from your iPhone or iPad."

Here's a real scam browser ...
