Best Buy has the 32 gig Apple TV on sale for $99 cheapest I've seen. Was thinking about getting 64 gig but I hope 32 is enough since I am hound to use it mostly for streaming

Yeah i was about to come post this. Picked 2 up this morning for $100 a piece. Going back to apple tv from amazon tv. Seems like each time i want to switch to something else, they have a sale on apple tv boxes and i go back lol! I was going to get the 64gb ones. But it seemed like overkill, especially since they still haven't gotten their stuff together with gaming.

There are a few threads on here debating the merits of 32 vs 64 GB and when it comes down to it no one has really been able to make the case for the 64 GB model. Those that got the big one just say they are happy with their decision just because they always buy the biggest memory Apple offers. I haven't yet seen one person say they filled up their 32 GB unit to the point where performance suffers. It seems that unless you really plan to use the ATV for a gaming machine (and really no one is doing that) then it just doesn't matter. You'll never fill it up with streaming apps.

Hard to not pick one up at this price. Are we likely to see a new Apple TV anytime in the coming future?

I scored one too. I had a WTB post and someone informed me about the BB sale (thanks again!). I usually put things in a cart, wait, re-think the purchase, but I'm glad I jumped right on it - the 32GB disappeared (OOS) the next morning and the 64GB went back up to $199!

I also picked up a neat remote cover, in *bright orange* that I hope will prevent it getting smashed and make it easier to find vs. the constantly disappearing 3rd gen remotes :D

It's replacing a 3rd gen on our main set (that one is moving into the upstairs computer/playroom), it's our 3rd ATV for the house. I considered a Roku, but we've got a Fire Stick, smart TVs (that aren't very...) lots of VGCs (that have Amazon and/or Vudu apps), did want another platform - Amazon VOD is covered and pretty infrequently used, what I'm really hoping for is a native UV (Vudu) App, with a unified media view, fingers crossed :)

Dang! I saw the sale price, couldn't do it until today and now they are completely gone?! What's up with that? Best Buy only sells the 32GB in Geek Squad refurbished (along with the 64GB), the 32GB new is no longer available, and the 64GB new has no pic???? I also noticed the last time I was at BB they seemed to be out of stock (of new ones) at the store, both sizes.

hmmm...

First Apple quietly drops the ATV3 from apple.com

Then Best Buy puts the 32GB on sale for $99 new, and, at least at my closest store, are out of stock of both 32/64GB new ones.

Then you go to best buy.com and see the 32GB (new) is no longer there (only BB GS refurbs), the 64GB (new) has no pic.

I'm going to say that Apple may actually be releasing an updated ATV before the holidays. (I was not expecting this).

Yeah, they blew out quickly, and it's odd they're not even available to order or through a store, like they're OOS back to the manufacturer ...

... leading into your next assertion about Apple clearing up one generation back, one of their SOPs when they plan the current device to take that product slot.

I think you're onto something :D

Was there a pronounced difference between the 3 & 4?

I'm holding out for the model that has 4K, HDR, Vudu, Google play, and Amazon video apps.

It looks like after Bestbuy sold out the ad was changed back to the higher price when viewed on line. Anyone have a copy of the original ad showing the $ 99 price so I can use it for a price match?

A player that had the above apps, as well as Netflix and a Plex server would be the perfect streaming device.

I stream probably 99% of my content with a 32gb ATV. 0 issues.
