Thank you guys for your suggestions. I decided no to go with this "Deals". I don't need bootcamp even though dual boot with win10 would be fine. For now I'll wait a bit and perhaps go with M1 13 Air with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB plus external monitor, but I didn't decide yet. This 500 USD save ad almost catch me by surprise.

I know I could have gotten more - the trade price stung a bit, but I wasn't offended by it. I didn't try FB marketplace and eBay is too much hassle. But honestly after a couple of days with the M1 Pro I knew that was the future. The Intel 16" felt hot, noisy and a bit laggy. These Apple Silicon laptops are truly next generation.
IMO don't worry about losing more than average right now. We're seeing performance increases that we've never seen in our entire lifetimes. It's worth it.

It really depends on what you need it for. If you want the bigger screen and if you need bootcamp then it is pretty good IMO. If you don’t need those then it is best to go with an M1 type model.

I just recently picked up a good deal on an upgraded base model intel 16” MBP (i7/32GB/1TB/5500M) as I wanted it for Windows as well. I just recently sold off my Windows desktop and my older 2016 15” MBP. The 16” is a good replacement for them. Plus I don’t have to worry about any keyboard issues like on the butterfly keyboard of the 2016.
I also have a 13” M1 MBP (16/1TB) and I ended up paying less for the 16” MBP than I did for the 13” M1 MBP.

Why not get the 13" M1 pro? It still has the touch bar.

Counterpoint: Intel will still be supported for a few more OS X iterations until eventually it is dropped,

If the discount is good enough (I saw the deals you're talking about; I don't think the bottom is reached yet ;) )

When these are are blowout prices then it is worth it.

It is a bit like buying an ICE car in like 2030 while everyone is buying EVs but they will still be allowed on the roads, for now. But again , weighing the cost benefits might not be bad.
