Bb has a 14 day return policy no questions asked. They automatically reduce the price by 100 to 150 for resale after they thoroughly check for damage etc. Plus they recently emailed a coupon cutting open box prices by another $100 . I was in bb on saturday and they had a bunch of 11 inch airs that were returned -- too small. They had one 13 inch air But two base 2011 13 inch mbp, the one just before the latest speed bump. Perfect condiotion in box. Got it for a steal, $800. Has full apple warranty and 14 day return. Im taking it to the genius on tuesday to downgrade from lion to snow leopard so i can use certain sw not compatible with lion. Bottom line: if you are in the market for a mbp check open box deal at bb.

Anyway to check online which stores have open box deals? I never seen them in my local best buy

I got my 09 13" MBP that way...saved me 300 bones. I also picked up a slightly damaged MB Aluminum that way from them....it was 3 yrs old and had never left the store. Got it for $649. It has been the best laptop I have ever owned. We gave it to my son for school last week and he is loving it.

Had to google "open box deals at best buy (insert your city + state)" to find the site, but it legit. Found a MacBook Pro 15" 2.0 ghz for $1299 in San Diego.

How'd you get the 30% off open boxed items?

1300 for a 2.0ghz??? seriously? i paid nearly 2 grand for mine  lol

I've recently done the same at my local Best Buy stores. Not as good at the OP, but I got a mint MC700LL/A for $835 pre-tax and a mint w/o box MC965LL/A MBA for $963 pre-tax. Now I just have to figure which one I want to keep :)

it pays to be friendly with the staff and let them know you're an Apple enthusiast. Leave your number and ask them to contact you when any special deals pop up. The aggressive sales people will do this.

Open box deals, display deals always pop up, but they can happen at anytime so you have to watch for them deals.

Congratulations on your purchase, you got a pretty good deal! I hope that you enjoy your MacBook Pro for years to come! :) :apple:

the way i did it is to call your local best buys and just ask if they have any open box MacBooks and they check and tell which ones, config and how much. remember these have only been out of the store no longer than 14 days to be returned so they are NEW. right now bb is offering another $100 off. its a great deal.:D

i recently got a 15" macbook pro 2.0 from best buy. It was a open box someone bought for his daughter but they never actually took the laptop out of the wrapper so it is brand new for open box price ;)
i got 10% off and printed another 100 dollar off for open box on their website (till Nov. 19)

This is my first mac and i am really glad i made the switch :)

Just found the coupon and link to the section on bestbuy's website where you can locate stores in your area that have open box items.

Many stores around me have everything!

I wonder how the prices compare to apple refurbished?

Please share the location of the coupon.

Just came back from a Best Buy and they sold the base model 13" to me for $987.04.

I applied the $100 coupon and after taxes paid $940 for the laptop. Not sure if I got a good deal or not, but I have 14 days if anything to return for a full refund.

OPinions??????

Not a bad deal. I got one Saturday but I think it was a booboo on BB's part. I wanted them to match the EDU discount which I qualified for to save me the 50 mile drive to the apple store. Their idea of matching the price was $100 off. So base 13" was $1038 on sale - $100 edu discount = $938 + tax. That was for a new (not open box) unit.
