Just curious if any of you are upset about the music app on this beta removing the ability to browse and play the music from the library on your iPhone?

I hit up Support and have a box showing up on my door tomorrow to ship my watch back and have it downgraded because beta 2 was so bad. But now the more I think about it I want that functionality back that watchOS 3 gives to control my music.

I would find it a shame if its permenantly gone, but not a deal breaker to stop me keeping on wOS 4, the AirPod improvements alone are worth it.

I thought the AirPod improvements are only tied to iOS 11 with the new controls. Is there something in watchOS 4 also?

It probably ties into ios11 too, but it seems to automatically bring up the now playing screen for audio controls when start playing something with AirPods in, and keeps it up unless dismiss manually

And also being able to add now playing as a complication to make accessing it otherwise quick

I've had GREAT luck with WatchOS Beta 2 and 3 so far. Yes, the updates have been a bit of a pain with 'can't find the watch' and failedupdates, but nothing monumental.

So far today, good 8 hours use, watch battery at 70% using Siri face. Nothing special turned off except gym equipment.

Beta 3 seems much smoother than Beta 2 thus far.

It's really annoying. I used to love being able to play music from my iPhone to my Jaybirds and control it from my watch. Really stupid change.

Yeah it seems the music app is only able to play media on the watch at the moment, but I guess you can at least goto now playing app and switch source to phone which will let you control the current album on the phone.

If/When they add support to select source on the music app it'll certainly be a lot better than WOS3 as that was always wobbly when switching to playing on watch.

For those having trouble connecting to watch from their iPhone.. Open the camera app on your watch, and then search for the update again. That worked for me.

not working for me, i've officially given up, I'm still stuck on beta 1 and haven't been able to update as all it says is could not connect to apple watch. I have tried everything and nothing seems to be working for me

iPhone Says, can not conect to apple watch

I hat this **** smartwatch. The badest Apple product ever

So beta software that you don't *have* to run is having issues and the automatically the Apple Watch becomes the worst Apple product ever?

I think your logic is flawed.

Do you use Apple Music by chance? Can you see what is currently playing with that face complication?

I noticed in ios11 beta 3, that the Apple Watch complication seemingly went back to "Apple Music" from what I saw in Beta 2 as "Now Playing". Neither of those complications would work with my S2 however. I expected Now Playing not to work as my watch doesn't have it available as a selection, but for a few seconds I was excited for iOS B3 and "Apple Music". Still no dice though.

My watch never shows what is playing, and I've just chalked it up to being either a) a long running bug, or b) incompatibilities with ios11 and WatchOS 3.

I thought this as well but discovered the feature needed to be turned on in watch app on beta 2, almost sure it worked briefly in beta 1 then stopped.

For me, it remains the worst product.

Since this morning 5:30 clock (German time) try to install the update.

Factory Reset several times.
Re-coupled several times.

Either it means "Download failed" or it means "No connection to Apple Watch". ... However, he has a connection. Digits sheet can be changed.

Now I have reset the watch another time. Now he says: "couple failed"

And yes. We are developers and would like to develop them. Thus pleasure has passed away.

With a simple lightning connection, the topic would be done long ago.

I finally downloaded Watch OS 4 beta 3 but now says "preparing" for the last 30 minutes... OY I also have profiles installed on my iPhone (7+) and Watch. (series 2)

Mine spent more than 30 minutes Preparing, so I'd wait a little longer and see whether it goes on to Verifying. From start to finish my install took nearly two hours.

Mines now stuck on the Apple logo with circle dots screen after getting a “Apple Watch successfully updated” message on my iPhone.

What a mess!

I can’t pair the watch to my iPhone. iPhone is updated to latest beta, watch starts to pair after the animation but then says setting language and goes back to the start pairing screen. Meanwhile the iPhone gets to activation then says pairing failed.

Ive tried resetting iPhone (DFU restore and set up as new), disabling iMessage, facetime and two factor authentication and nothing works.

Called Apple and they said to send in but in two minds....got the Ceramic edition

Any other suggestions i could try?

UPDATE:

The steps in the post below worked for me!

Apple Watch: All the Little Things! [watchOS 4 beta 2]

Since you're all developers I'm sure you've already read the release notes that specifically tell you what to do when the beta 3 installation stalls... right? ;) Now that I've got that obligatory joke out of the way, here's the information from the release notes at the very top under General - New Issues:
  • Updating to watchOS 4 beta 3 may stall indefinitely after the watch restarts and the password has been entered. Workaround: Restart the Apple Watch up to three times. If this does not resolve the issue, unpair the Apple Watch from the iPhone while the watch is in the stalled state. Once the watch is unpaired, pair the watch and phone again.

For those who actually are in the developer program, it's a good idea to read the release notes, because there are a number of new issues highlighted in Update 2 for watchOS 4 beta 3.
