Any ideas when beta 7 may be out? I’m experiencing a nasty calendar bug with beta 6 with exchange calendars, which did not exist in previous betas….

Your guess is as good as ours. Again it looks like we are going to go 3 weeks between betas on macOS. It just feels like Apple's priorities are the iOS ecosystem and they have left macOS behind as far as development goes. They still have yet to release Universal Control in a beta, doubt it will be included in release-day.
My guess is actual release is likely a month away and we are going to have a buggy release because Apple has seemingly took a back-burner on development this year.

I believe we are looking at a November release in that there is new hardware coming and the supply chain is a disaster. Don't think the same team is working on IOS and pulled from MacOS. Just think it is being stretched to meet the hardware supply.

"it just feels like"; hmm. as has been pointed out before (by me, at least), apple is a fairly-large corporation, and the mac OS team is not 'the same 3 people' as the IOS team.

everything in your post is guesses, theories. meanwhile, in the real world, this is apple, so no one knows when the next beta hits... until it does. and yes, the actual release will have bugs, because every single iteration of any OS (or software) has bugs; nothing is ever 'perfect'.

MacOS 12 Beta 6 (August 30th) is the only one not updated for the security vulnerability. You would think Apple wants to push a beta 7 more quickly out even if they still have this beta cycle ending around Nov.

maybe new hardware close then we think and because of security reasons there is no new betas.

More likely they just pushed out what was easier to patch. MacOS 12 beta is still new so probably incorporating fixes/changes while they can also incorporate the CVE-2021-30860 changes before beta 7. New hardware, not right now, November. Either Friday or Monday my guess.

Have they ever released beta software on a Friday? Monday will be three weeks since beta 6.

Yes they have had beta releases on Friday.

Just a comparison of last years Big Sur progress to this years Monterey.
If new products are tied to the OS you will see a lot more betas. Big Sur is particularly a case study as it was the first OS to support M1 Macs specifically.

Wow the pattern last year was every two weeks on the dot until beta 7 then approximately weekly afterwards. The schedule this year is most unusual!

Yes it started out 2 weeks earlier due to different WWDC dates (June 7th vs June 22nd), yet here we are expecting beta 7 about the same time which would be Sept 17th. Hmmmm.

I’m also looking forward to beta 7 but as long as they give us back a stable macOS I can wait until January honestly.

my sister texted me last night for technical support after she got a new Mac with big Sur. iPhone sync and backup doesn’t work. Still!!! It’s been like that since Catalina, it’s a joke!

I don't think it'd be out of the realm of possibility to see Beta 7 alongside iOS/iPadOS 15.1 next week, perhaps with Universal Control ready for external testing. A boy can dream...

Guess beta 7 will be on another Monday like beta 6. Yes they are taking 3 weeks this time.
actually I think we won't see it at least until Tuesday since they are releasing iOS/iPadOS/TVOS/HomePodOS 15 tomorrow....

I'm actually wondering if betas expire at some point. Today is 21 days which is now the longest ever between macOS betas. I don't think they planned it on a calendar that way. Somewhere some kind of snag was hit or the development team went on vacation, lol. I believe the longest prior was like 17-18 days and sometimes due to a holiday.

Ya, never seen such a long stretch without a macOS beta before. I’m having a few issues with beta 6 so definitely looking forward to a new beta!

They released Safari 15 for Big Sur & Catalina today. And updated the Big Sur page on Apple's website to show macOS Monterey as Coming This Fall.

You can use the last beta until the time they offer a update. The only that will happen is once a new beta is available is you won't be able to revert back to the previous beta. When doing DFU revive/restores for M1 Macs its based on earlier major MacOS releases and the latest beta.

They did that last year with Big Sur although Wednesday/Thursday as I recall.

So if MacOS beta 7 doesn't drop late today, it will likely come out tomorrow with new betas for iOS/IPadOS/tvOS and WatchOS unless the server are still really strained from the latest public releases.

Suspect we see beta 7 today alongside 15.1 betas for the iOS-lineage software. Have a hunch that this will be the build that enables Universal Control for testers.
Universal Control is already in iPadOS 15. If you turn handoff off and back on, you will see the new setting for cursor and keyboard on your iPad. It's just not activated on macOS yet.

What is "universal control" doing now in beta 6? (You can see it in Activity Monitor.)
