Beta for 3rd Gen Apple TV?

I just noticed in the Apple Dev Portal there is a new beta for the 3rd Generation Apple TV, the one that stopped being updated years ago. How do we install the beta on the old 3rd gen and why is there a beta?

Apple TV Software 7.3 beta provides support for testing AirPlay from your apps to Apple TV (3rd generation) only.

I’ve only restored an Apple TV 3 with iTunes, losing all stored settings in the process.

It still gets some updates, although, I think it has been a little over a year since the last one.

You can also update it using the Apple Configurator in the Mac App Store. I have 2 of these, nice to see they're still supported!
