Nah to pacify the testings labs and technology writers that think there is a problem with the design.

Oh right, the ones that figured out that the iPhone acts like every other cell phone in existence, they definitely deserve something for all their hard work. Also, I think Windows 7 is poorly designed. Why isn't MS doing anything for me?

Pretty slim chance, as we've already seen the antenna configuration of the Verizon iPhone with a SIM slot - that's most likely the iPhone 5.

This thread is very useful! Glad I stopped by to read it. Well back to taking a dump!

you can't just design a phone in less than a year. to release a phone in late june means that it has to be submitted to the FCC a few months prior and that means you have to test it yourself for a few months. the iphone 5 has been in development since 2008 or 2009.

That's not how it works.

First off, the FCC doesn't do any testing itself. It simply reviews the test results that Apple pays a third party test lab to do, makes suggestions, then gives the certification to the final report... sometimes within two weeks for Apple.

As for the third party testing, that can also take as little as a couple of weeks to turn out.

Real life example: The iPhone 4's tests in 2010. In this case, Apple used a TCB, which is a third party that is authorized to do approvals on its own, then copied to the FCC.

  • March 29 thru April 2 - Lab tests take place (about three days).
  • April 15 - Lab report issued.
  • (nothing new goes on for a month and a half)
  • June 3 - Lab report updated with latest results.
  • June 7 - Lab report submitted to FCC with approval.
  • June 24 - Sales launch.

I hope not. The iPhone 4 design is the best looking phone on the market.

absolutely! too bad we have to cover it all up to avoid loss of signal :(

NON of my Verizon phones or any other model of the iphone in my house drop bars when I hold it, the iphone however goes from 3-4 bars to 1 and turns form 3G to "o" which is terribly slow.

We all know that holding a phone will cause "some" antenna issues and all the antennas are inside the phone, so what does apple do, put it on the outside so you are ACTUALLY TOUCHING the antenna, great idea!

and last but not least comment, 'HOW DARE YOU POST THAT APPLE HAS A FLAW ON MAC"FANBOY"RUMORS.COM" What did you really expect the answers to be? you're right? LOL

Tell you what then. Since you feel that way. Why don't you throw it on your resume and use it in a cover letter a few times. I "betcha" get tons of great job offers.

Wow, some people can never admit when they are wrong. Just because one won't use slang in a resume doesn't invalidate the word. Slang words are words. They are often used as a means of informal communication, i.e. this forum. So technically you would have lost the bet.

Hey you win some, you lose some. You lost this one.

I am a little surprised Apple didn't completely redesign the antenna for the Verizon iPhone 4. I bet they will won't make that mistake with the iPhone 5!

What is so bad about it?

I think the aerial will be redesigned. I just think there's no way Apple will risk ending up with the same PR nightmare they had last year.

And because of that 'PR nightmare' they only sold how many phones???

20 million? More?

I do not expect an antenna redesign.

That's irrelevant really as a PR nightmare is a PR nightmare and Apple will be wanting to avoid that at all costs. Introducing a whole new model with the same problem would be suicide!
