You know what I mean.

Personally, I find Ubuntu, Ubuntu MATE, and Linux Mint to be the absolute best for ease of use.

I was talking about general Apple, not the PowerPC people, which I'm part of.
I fought with Ubuntu for yonks with its crappy NetworkMangler spinning and spinning and spinning... Having to recompile netatalk for every minor update of the system soon lost its novelty and then Unity happened - why are Amazon links included in a search for installed apps?

Deleted and never looked at Ubuntu again.

Being a devoted Linux User is like being the vegetarian at the BBQ. Sure you won’t starve but all the temptations can be too much to resist.

I'm not a tinkerer on Linux and don't think I'll become one, Mint 18 which was installed by a previous owner, just seems to work out of the box, never given a problem.
For me as a Linux User is like being a BBQ & beef lover making regular visits to a health store i.e. best of both worlds. (;-))

I think Linux is great for tinkerers but over the years I've also installed it on many PCs for people who just want basic browsing and office use in a more secure environment than Windows. I've never considered it myself for getting any serious work done - the apps just aren't there.

That's not fair. Ubuntu has gotten worlds better in the last 6 years. More stable, less inept.

At least look at newly released distributions based on it. Again, I recommend MATE.

Elementary OS is heading in the right direction. They just need to knock some of the kinks out. It's based on Ubuntu but with a focus on simplicity and efficiency. The latest release (Loki) is a bit buggy, but I look forward to what they do with the next release.

No doubt but Canonical annoyed me more with that stunt, especially after their Ubuntu mission statement, than Apple ever did by foisting U2 on the world. And Unity never improved so I am glad to see it binned at last. 20 clicks to do what Gnome did with two. No thanks.

MATE I can live with but the last distro I installed was Lubuntu-like.

Sounds cool. I might take a look one day.
