I'm new to the iPhone, but not new to Apple products otherwise. I just got a 4s, and I can't find a way to switch email, fb, etc to vibrate only while keeping the ringtone in audible mode.

In fact, I never want to HEAR an email notification. I can't believe that is even the default.

I've seen some rather complicated work arounds, but having to do that seems very.. non-Apple. Wouldn't they have some sort of intuitive buttonless trick? :)

Not trying to stir things up, just trying not to be annoying. I hate devices that make unwarranted sounds.

Not sure I"m getting your question, but I think if you go to Sounds, you can turn off any sounds for mail, text tones, etc. And you can choose if you want it to vibrate or not.

Not so much. You can chose "None" But there is no option for just "Vibrate only."

I'm going to see if it still vibrates with "None" selected.

I've had generations of blackberries. The iPhone is intuitive to probably everyone but someone like me, who can speed through a blackberry without having to think. I have re-learn a lot. It's a different environment entirely.
