I ordered yesterday, and have an estimated delivery range of the 14th-21st.

Since shipping times have just dropped to 5-7 business days, wondering if its worth it to cancel and reorder.

Prolly should just be patient ....

Wait I would be tottally shocked if people who ordered today get it before you, just because the shipping times dropped today, your technically still higher on the list than people who ordered today

I would think so -- don't know why this didnt occur to me originally.

I don't see them moving a more recent order infront of yours just because the shipping dates moved up. I would assume you are still ahead of them "in line".

Those shipping times apply to you too now. They have just been updated as will your estimated delivery....

Be patient and hang with the order you have. The very moment component supplies improve, you will be the first to benefit.

Ya right!! I ordered on 7/22 and mine is still processing

you'll be shocked to know that I ordered on 7/22 with 1-2 weeks estimated delivery, for some reason people ordered on 23rd and 24th got theirs while mine is still processing!! and yes we ordered the same damn specs!!

No we does not live near each other by any mean, that's not the point, people who ordered first should get theirs first!!

Looks like Apple Online Store doesn't follow the simple way of first come first serve.

Just spoke with an apple rep. She said the following:

"The initial shipping estimate we give is just something that gives you a general idea of when it should be delivered based on current supply. That's subject to change as the products become more available, so your order will most likely ship a bit sooner than originally estimated since shipping estimates were just reduced to 5-7 Business days."

Make of that what you will.

well I know BTO orders all come from China but what about stock items does apple not use multiple depos accross the US?

mine is BTO.....
and i'm not in US....

2.6GHz, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD is a BTO and I'm currently in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

mmm that is strange obviously where you live would impact if your on the short end of the Range of the long end but since yours is still being "processed" and people that ordered BTO's after you already recieved their than that is mind boggling

I think thats your answer, you're complaining because people who ordered after you are getting it before you...but those people live in the US, as wrong as it might sound, that's why they get it faster, because they live here. So Apple isn't to blame, it's your location. Sorry mate.

That's what anger me the most! I would understand if shipping might take a bit longer but come on man!! Still processing? you tell me if that's fair!!

I order a minimum of one new MBA or MBP per year, every year. I've been doing this years. This is what I know as fact:

1) Orders placed via the Apple.com online store, including BTO / CTO (same) come out of China and are processed and shipped on a first come first served basis. The only exception which is rare, is if they run out of a certain component.

2) No matter what it says on Apple's site, if your order has been placed, you are ahead of the people that order after you. Orders are kept in chronological order.

3) As in anything else, there is always the possibility of a mistake. So I would suggest if you've been waiting far longer than your estimated shipping date that you call Apple. If you don't like the answer you receive, call back. You will get another person on the phone that may provide additional or more accurate info. You can always ask for a supervisor as well.

I ordered mine yesterday evening and also had regrets when I saw the improved processing times this morning. I decided to hang tight. Today, around 5:30pm EST, I received an email from apple stating that the shipping times have improved and that it would ship in 5-7 business days. Oddly, the "receive by" date changed from aug 16-23 to 17-21!

Strange. I ordered mine last weekend when the shipping dates were 1-2 weeks, and I have not received any such email.

Yes I also received that email, and had the dates modified as yours were; I would have expected the new dates to be the 9th - 11th, which would be 5-7 business days....

Official wording of email from apple:
Dear Apple Customer,
Thank you for your recent online order at the Apple Store.
We are pleased to inform you that your recent Macbook Pro order will ship sooner than expected. Your order will now ship within 5-7 days.
Please visit apple.com/orderstatus to check the most up to date status of your order.

Same here. The "delivers by" date went from Aug 13th-20th on my original receipt to the 14th-16th on my "good news, it's shipping sooner" email.
Go figure.

I also ordered yesterday PM. I chose expedited shipping, I wonder if thats the difference in the range between yours and mine.

It's interesting that shipping times have gone from 3-4 weeks, to 2-3, 1-2, and now 5-7 days all in a short time. There must have been a supply constraint on a particular component.

I ordered the rmbp 2.3/16GB/256GB on the 29th of July and never got an email. My ship date stayed the same so I decided to call them, and the rep who was extremely nice, said that apple works on a first come first serve basis and that my rmbp should adjust regardless of the date displayed. In addition, as compensation, she added expedited shipping to my order just in case. So I woud keep the order and just give them a call to double check, they're really understanding to the situation.
