I've recently purchased a thunderbolt monitor for my macbook. It works great, I plug it in and use the monitor for everything, but then now my macbook screen is not used at all. Is there a better use for the macbook screen?

I can't even put the dashboard on that screen. At least I don't know how.

You can just close it and only use the external with an external keyboard and mouse.

I always use both. I simple spread stuff out on both. Like Word, Pages on one screen for typing. PDFs, Browser windows, spotify.
I just spread different apps over the screens. It is way more efficient to simply switch focus and look at the other screen rather than pulling apps to the front one after another.

Unfortunately Mission control really sucks for multiple screens. You can also make more use of the big screen if you use the Window snap feature that comes with BetterTouchTools.

I can't close the monitor actually, because the mouse connected to the display would not function (randomly)

So now I'm stuck with a stupid wallpaper screen on my desk every day. I wish I can put some kind of widgets there (stocks, cpu usage etc).
