Beware if ordering from ATT online store.

    On Tuesday, at 1:00 p.m. EST I ordered an iPhone 3Gs from the AT&T online store. My order went through and at 1:10 I got a confirmation email with an order number. I decided to check the status of the order this morning but the online order status checker wouldn't take that order number so I called ATT customer support.

    Me: I would like to check the status of order .. . .
    ATT: Ask for info
    Me: I give info
    ATT: "Pre-orders for iPhone 3G S will be shipped with overnight priority and will be processed to arrive as early as June 19, 2009, if submitted by 12 p.m. noon C.T., June 17, 2009. The actual shipment date and receipt of your order is not guaranteed and may be subject to delays for reasons that include, but are not limited to, product availability, inventory, credit issues, number porting or carrier delays, and completion of other required AT&T business processes. Additional items added to the cart at the time of your pre-order may ship separately depending on availability. Your credit card will not be charged until items are shipped. All pre-orders taken online are being handled on a first-come, first-served basis. " (Something tells me they read that . . . OFF OF MY CONFIRMATION EMAIL. Are they saying I can't read?)
    Me: So, what is the status of my order and why can't I see it online
    ATT: Pre-orders won't show up on the online status checker until your phone ships.
    Me: Other peoples are.
    ATT: They must have just ordered later than you.
    Me: No, we ordered at the same time.
    ATT: Let me transfer you.
    *cheesy elevator music*
    ATT: Your order was canceled on Tuesday. Since you are not allowed to make multiple pre-orders you will now have to get your iPhone from an ATT location.
    Me: Why was my order canceled
    ATT: I don't know. Something must have been wrong.
    Me: Why was I not emailed about the cancellation.
    ATT: We have to manually send out cancellation emails. You should get one within the next couple of days to a week.

    Moral of the story: If you ordered online, make sure it is showing up in the status checker. The nearest ATT store is over an hour away and I have to work next Friday. I am really mad!

    That's why! You got scammed on a fake website!





    But in all actuality, that sucks. Good thing there won't be a huge line for 3G S's though.

    order from apple and sign the release form and they'll leave it :)

    The only reason I ordered from AT&T is I tried to order from Apple on Tuesday and it kept giving me an error. Anyway, I just tried to order from Apple again and it worked!

    Wow that sucks man, sorry! I would try to talk to one of the CSR's manager to see if they can't force the order through. :confused:

    If you live close to Wally World or Best Buy go by there after work.
