I have to agree with adamlbiscut. I think you may be dug in a bit too much. That being said, you’re right that tolerances should be followed but these are mass produced devices. It’s impossible to guarantee perfection. It’s not all robots making them either so human error comes into play. There’s a lot of human interaction so flaws are bound to happen. Plus as I mentioned originally, they usually use mounts that the screen sits in to keep it uniform on a production line but if the mount gets dropped and is damaged, has a small burr on it, or something like a hair or piece of dirt gets between the screen and mount then it can cause the glass to not lay flat and will cause this sort of thing.

So yes, they should follow their tolerances and they do. But mistakes happen. No one’s perfect. Not even Apple.
Apple is so far from perfect it’s insane so many people will defend them like they’re Gods.

Use Dark Mode and a black Home Screen…. The only time I see the bezel is on a website or app that does not play nice with Dark Mode.
I said in my post I need to use white background with black text. I think the dark background hides all the flaws. But the flaws were only on my device. I checked them all in the store and they all looked uniform.

I’ve never had a Genius Bar person disagree with me. 🤣
I have had managers at one store threaten to kick me out when I asked for a refund for something their employee messed up on - charging me for an Apple Pencil when I had mine fixed under warranty. Took to another Apple Store and no problem at all returning it. Just depends on the type of person.

If you act like a sheep, the store employees usually treat you best. But when you can show them yours versus store models and how yours looks crooked and everyone says yup that’s not right at least I know the truth. It was a messed up iPhone. Not that they all are off.

Went to the Apple Store today. Everyone that saw my iPhone agreed it was wrong. We compared to in store models, and guess what. The in store models looked perfect compared to mine. Apple employees told me yes it’s not correct and it shouldn’t have been sold. I got the 16 Pro Max 1TB which is what I wanted. Bezels look perfect on it and all the others. Mine was obviously off. So it’s a problem the tech I spoke with most said he has seen but definitely mine appeared crooked with different size bezels all around the device. Glad I went to the store. Took photos of mine versus Apple Store devices showing theirs looked perfect. But people here will defend Tim’s AAPL like it’s their baby or religion. Definitely quality control issue.
Apple will generally always go out of their way in terms of customer service, their training is to empathise and agree with the customer. Glad you got it sorted to your satisfaction - let’s hope this one is “perfect” in every way.

Glad they were able to take care of you!

QC isn't a flawless process at any company unfortunately - some issue will always pass through. Unfortunately it's not economically viable to thoroughly inspect every unit that's made, especially at Apple's scale.

This is where post-sale support matters, and I'll say that Apple's is some of the best without hesitation. They know they're not perfect but they'll always try to make it right.

Usually that’s true. But there are sometimes employees or managers who are dug in. Jelly scrolling on iPad mini - Apple says that’s standard. Couldn’t return mine outside 14 days and Apple said they wouldn’t fix it.

So it depends. I think some people see the flaws and some people don’t care. I do care. The price does matter as you get what you pay for.

That's great to hear, glad you got it worked out. The bezels on the 16PM are thinner too. Once you go Max you won't go back!

It’s Apple. It’s not even close to perfect software - doesn’t have the AI features. I think this is the least organized Apple has ever been. I came here just to find out if this was common and people here belittled me and argued all in Apple’s favor. In reality, in the store it was obvious as soon as I saw the others that mine was flawed. So it wasn’t .03 microns different as some here say. It was uneven and obvious. People say I took the photo at an angle and I am too picky but the reality is Apple’s QC team failed. It would be nice to know where it was made and etc, but I will never know now. I don’t think Apple truly cares as most people would slap a case on it and live with it or not care. I care. There are different types of people and things people care about that other people think is crazy.

I found it necessary to act like a sheep when having issues in day to day life these days gets better results. Sad but true. By sheep meaning being very calm and softly spoken and smiling all the time 😂

Have to say how great Apple is. That’s the key.
