Fine just the way they are is what people say about capitalism. Lmao.

There can and will be far better in the future
Until your mythical better system comes out, capitalism has been the single greatest economic system humanity has figured out and can be thanked for most modern innovation and lifting more people out of poverty than at any point in the history of the planet.

Bitching about capitalism is so trendy though when people want to sound enlightened and out of touch.

Every economic system has flaws, and until you solve the human condition of greed, none will be perfect.

Agreed but only from the standpoint that we live in a corporatized political system where large corporations by their influence, politically speaking. So, as long as we have that kind of cronyism, I do not believe company should be as large or valuable as Apple, google, or any of the other companies that large and valuable.

fully agreed. i only said apple because this is MR but yeah all of them are out of control.

If you don't like it go to android...

No.

I’ll never understand this. Apple isn’t the only smart phone operating system. You can do all of this on Android. Clearly that demonstrates there are options in the market.

To all the naysayers moaning that their security will be compromised if sideloading is implemented…

Guess what? The  App Store isn’t going anywhere. Everyone can still use the App Store.

The push for sideloading is to benefit developers, not end user customers.

Some developers are total trash. I have a hardware device and they were complaining how Apple kept rejecting their app and Apple was to blame for the app not to be released according to the developers. At some point, Apple did approve a version, but that app so buggy, it was not even funny. So I can't imagine how bad the previous versions where that Apple rejected.

Without Apple ensuring at-least some sort of quality control, the quality of apps will go down the drain. And if side-loading is allowed, then we get ****.

And before you say .... what about MAC? Well, those apps don't exist on MAC. You need Android, iPhone or iPad.

Capitalism has done more to raise more people out of poverty than any other economic system. It's not a debate. Yet somehow we think we need some centralized power to put their finger on everything to eliminate poverty. No, we DO NOT need a nationwide mindset flip. If that were true, the "War on Poverty" would have been a success. Just stop.
These people who bitch about capitalism just amaze me with out-of-touch of reality and history they are. Are there problems? of course there are, but it isn't capitalism, it's greed. That is something that until we have replicators like Star Trek (and even then) will always be a problem. It is part of the human condition.

The worst run organizations in the world, Governments, telling the best run businesses how to operate. Maybe these Governments should first get their houses together before they try and fix business.
Lmao you think businesses are good? It’s pure corruption to siphon the maximal amount of money from consumers. Literal strategies to take your money.

Let me explain an email exchange from Apple executives:

Okay, yeah, I think we should stop including the power adapter in the box; it would reduce our per-unit cost by $0.86 and we can reduce the depth of the product box, and therefore, the shipping box by a substantial amount.”

“Yeah, that actually sounds great, and in significantly reducing the size and a slight amount of weight from each box, we can fit far more iPhones on each freight flight, which will net us tens of millions in shipping and transportation cost savings.”

“Yes, exactly, and we can tackle the public marketing of this transition by stating that it will help us reduce our carbon footprint, and most people already own an adapter anyway.”

“I agree, and we need to do this right now, because we know that since we just transitioned to including a USB-C to Lightning Cable with iPhones, then we also understand that the truth is that most Apple customers do not currently own a power adapter that would work to charge their brand-new iPhones, because all previous adapters we’ve included in the box were USB-A. Instead, they’ll have to either purchase a USB-C power adapter from us, or they’ll likely have to purchase a USB-A to Lightning Cable because we are now shipping USB-C to Lightning cables which are incompatible with the power adapters we had been including.”

“That is brilliant.”

“Hey, if all else fails, at least we fooled ‘nomacuser5’ on MacRumors.”

“Hahaha, yeah this much is true.”

Fine just the way they are is what people say about capitalism.

Regulation gets innovation. Yes.

See what you don’t understand is that if you allow businesses to practice antitrust and anti-consumer things then you get a company that is more and more powerful and has to innovate less and less to stay strong.

We as a civilization want more and more innovation for a better existence tomorrow. That’s the point.
Regulation is about control, not innovation.

A company that has a monopoly in a market, which is legal, has a better chance of innovating and producing products that benefit the consumer.

It's really none of any government's concern how Apple runs its App Store to improve user privacy and security, unless it's using security as an excuse to engage in censorship and interfere with the free sharing of ideas and communications.

Since it seems to be the way things are going, and the walled garden appears to be being torn down one way or the other, I think Apple should relent and allow alternate app stores and apps, but in a virtual iOS environment that's completely sandboxed away from the main iOS installation. Warnings about how installing from 3rd party apps/stores is inherently less secure. All data connectivity via Private Relay. Zero access to personal information from location to contacts to health data, unless explicitly ported to the virtual environment. One button + confirmation deletion so the entire thing can be easily removed and started fresh when it goes sideways.

Capitalism will be a long-forgotten fragment of the past one day

I know, I get it, it’s scary to think of a way better world you won’t be a part of because you’ll be long deceased lol

Yeah you understand nothing.

You think monopolies are good. You think a company doing great with no competition is good. LMAO.

It’s precisely the opposite.

Regulation is fundamentally important and great. Regulation is why you were killed decades ago from untested medications lmao

Coming soon to a news source near you: "Employees complain that employers require side-loaded apps that track their location, keystrokes, and usage of other apps", followed by "Public utility customers complain..." etc. etc. ad infinitum, as we enter the land of unconsidered unintended consequences. "Oh, hey you can keep on using the app store...". Unless you can't just do that.🍸🙀

I don't have a particular problem with this, sp long as users are well informed beforehand that they can kiss goodbye to Apple Support if they circumvents Apple's controls.

Yeah, I think I agree...I just hope iOS doesn't turn into a Windows-style mess of never ending prompts and pop-ups every time I launch an app that I originally installed from App Store-- "Did you know you can now install our app directly from www.whatever.com?" or buy something "Would you like to switch from Apple Pay to PayPal/Zelle/Whatever?"

Apple should make 2 versions of iOS:

Open iOS -> allow multiple stores, removing apps, third party browsers, sideloading, etc.
Closed iOS -> just as it is now.

And then when the costumer boots their device for the first time (or after a restore) they'll get the option to activate the open iOS or the closed iOS.
