Why does everyone on this site think that their carrier "owes them" or that they are "entitled to" some kind of deal? More than likely, you signed and agreed to a 2-year (24 month) contract. If you haven't satisfied the agreed upon terms of the contract, why should they owe you anything?

I don't see it as entitlement, but if it's literally cheaper for this guy to buy out his contract and go elsewhere, wouldn't it make sense for Sprint to let him pay the SAME amount and stay with them?

Option A: Sprint gets x$ and no future revenue

Option B: Sprint gets x$ (same amount) PLUS a 2-year committment

If you were Sprint, which of those options would you choose?

I certainly don't feel entitled. In fact, I will GLADLY pay full price for the phone straight out - just give me that option Apple and/or AT&T!

I've bought every phone since the 3GS at full retail, so I doubt there'd be any problem getting one at the full price. Funny thing is, the 4GS is the first time I qualify for the upgrade price, and I'm still debating whether I want to upgrade over my 4.

Here's the deal though guys, tell me if my math is off, but Sprint is about to lose at least two, but probably a whole lot more customers because of this:

- I bought my wife and I EVOs on launch day as well.
- We both want the iPhone 4S
- I could pay $649 EACH for the 16GB to upgrade now and stay with sprint (or wait until April which is NOT happening).
- Alternatively, I can switch to Verizon and pay $199+$35 activation+$65.62 Sprint ETF = $299.62 each for iPhone 4S

So, pay less than half the cost of upgrade to move away from Sprint, which is actually the same price I paid for the EVOs, less actually if you consider activation fees and all that.

Is my math wrong or is this just a dumb idea for Sprint? Why not save me and let me upgrade?

And what about your credit?

Why do people buy so many phones for ' their wives'

I tend to do that with my gf. It's much better than spending $1000+ on a purse.

Haha... As a tech loving, poor, single mom of 3, it would rock to have someone willing to buy me new toys every year!

But I'd think you were nuts if you tried to buy me a purse for $1000. I'd have to find some sucker to buy it so I could get a new phone! :D
