iPhone 17 Pro Big increase in Storage Speed

Seems the 2TB is a little slower than the 512GB and 1TB, not by a lot though.

Did a reboot and made sure all apps were closed, after multiple tests this was the quickest, running 26.2.

It depends on what you're doing, for example.

I only shoot photos with Adobe Indigo. On my previous iPhone 16 Pro, it would take 2-4 seconds for photos to process and save. With my 17 Pro 512GB version, photos save almost instantly, at most maybe 1.5 seconds to process and save.

Another scenario is editing photos in Lightroom Mobile; depending on what you're doing, it can at times take some time to save a photo and export it to your camera roll. I've noticed that everything just processes and saves a lot faster than on my 16 Pro.

Is it a world of difference? Not really, but it's nice to have.

one thing i've found with my older galaxy s8, pixel 7 and now pixel 9 pro is that the date modified usually is a few seconds off from the date taken, this "lag" i am assuming is from post-processing saving to internal storage so with higher read/write speeds this lag will be alot more narrowd ? Do you have 512 GB iphone 17 pro or base 17 with higher ssd to test and see the difference ?

Writing a 100MB file takes 0.1s at 1GB/s and 0.03s at 3GB/s.

Unfortunately not, I just have my 17 Pro 512GB.

The tests I mentioned was done when I still had my 16 Pro 512GB before I sent it back to AT&T.

If i go from a 256 gb 17 pro to 512 gb base 17 ...is the photos going to savr much more quickly from pressing the shutter button to saving the photos to library hence making the date modified timestamp of the photo closer to the actual date taken ?

Man, if your photo saves on a different date than it was taken, I would check if you weren’t accidentally using an old analogue Leica camera instead of your iPhone. 😜

you can test yourself, import your photos from your iphone to pc and take the difference between date modified and date taken you will see it might be off by a few seconds

I have gone many times but usually they had 256 gb on display. I will double chefk again when i get the chance to see if 512 gb is any different
