The library folder I have in my backup does show the widgets that I had installed, so I know its my own personal library folder. So can I just restore that folder, move it to my home folder, then restart and hope for the best?

appreciate the help.
Yes, that's pretty much the right idea.

Like I said before though, instead of writing over the current library folder with your backup, move it elsewhere for now, just in case.

Im completely stumped as to what happened to my user library folder. I have done a spotlight search for those widgets that were there, hoping to track down that folder, and they just are totally gone. She must have deleted the folder in the trash without deleting the whole trash can. :(
Your 3-year-old must be very talented. ;)

It sounds like your Library/Preferences Folder got trashed and possibly deleted.

If so, you can download and use the demo version of an Application called Pacifist.

Pacifist allows you to access your Operating System DVD to install just the Application or folder you need.

Before doing so, Spotlight search "preferences" or .plist and see you can find your
User/Library folder.

Just make sure you are not confusing it with your Hard Drive/Library master folder.

At the worst case, burn everything important to CD and re-install Mac OSX.

Then create limited user accounts for the littles.

i feel you pan.
