Has anyone else been experiencing keyboard latency / lag with Big Sur on the 16" MacBook Pro?

Think this started on one of the later Beta's, but is still a problem on the 11.0.1 release (fresh install inc. erase). I'm using a Magic Keyboard and it seems to be particularly prevalent when resuming from Sleep. Also weirdly seems to be particularly worse in certain apps (VS Code / Terminal / Slack)??

Hi! Yes, I’ve got this problem, too, on a 2020 iMac 27in. It is quite noticeable and annoying and has only appeared since upgrading from Catalina to Big Sur last Thursday.

Mac Pro 2019 is also affected, so it's not specific to a type of machine. Seems to be intermittent and I don't know what triggers it.

Same here with MBP 16''. Agreed on VS Code being worse, but noticing it even while writing this as well. Ha.

Same here with a MBP 16" 2019. Using PHP Storm and it seems as bad as VS Code.
Typing lag is really bad, to the point I'm about to downgrade to Catalina as I can't stand the delay.

Works fine on my 2018 15", both VS Code and PHO Storm, lags on big i9 Imac 2020 but only if keyboard works wirelessly, it's fine on a cable. Go figure.
I've only upgraded my main machine because the laptop seemed to work fine. Thxn Apple!

Same here with an MBP 16" 2019, fixing it by completely clean install and also don't use time machine set it as a new mac

I solved this for my Bluetooth magic keyboard using the advice here

This is the key suggestion

Option-shift clicking (on the BT menu) reveals even more: three utility commands that manually do the work of configuration: Reset, Factory reset, and remove all. Reset is basically DR&B. Factory reset returns the device to it’s just out of the box state. Remove all disconnects all connected bluetooth devices. This last option is a great way to sweep away the cruft of poorly connected Bluetooth devices that might be interfering with each other (or spying on you).

Problem: MacOS Big Sur 11.1 - lag on bluetooth magic keyboard - only the bluetooth keybord has lag, not the integrated keyboard

Solution: switch the keyboard off from its switch and then on. It worked for me. It did not work to just reconnect it from bluetooth menu.

It worked for me on MB Pro 16 inch. Thank you.

Hi,
I have a same issue with a MBP 11 Mid 2012 (unsupported officially by BigSur).
Interesting fact: Even rolling back to catalina with a clean install, the issue still occurs.

same here on iMac Pro 27"
This is really annoying. After turning off/on of the keyboard, it works again, but the issue comes back after a while.

Is there still no permanent solution?

I have been having this issue for over a year. It got so bad that my keyboard would literally only work if it was connected. I have had every single bluetooth device replaced (trackpad, keyboard, AirPods), despite them working fine on my Mac Mini (also on Big Sur). I was resetting my PRAM and SMC about once a week. Reinstalled OS multiple times. Reset bluetooth module almost daily. It always comes back. I reached my breaking point a couple of weeks ago and finally shipped my machine to Apple. They replaced the logic board and TouchBar. It was fine for a week. It came back. It's returned to "keyboard and trackpad will not work if not directly plugged in".

I have the same problem with intergrated keyboard i think especially when i press caps lock. Any solution?
