Just curious if anyone is having difficulty with the App Store after upgrading to Big Sur. I checked the status and it says that the App Store is up and functioning, but I am unable to get updates or even download a new program. Is there something I am missing?

Thanks.

Started the upgrade of 6 apps about 2 hours ago. The five Apple apps appear to have successfully updated, however, the sixth app, Nord VPN, has been stuck on waiting ever since.

NordVPN wasn’t going anywhere so, I restarted my MacBook & it seems that the app has successfully updated.

I first had problems with Xcode, iMovie, and Numbers. Numbers "installed" but I cannot open it (so I deleted it). I tried to download another program but it just sits there. I will keep trying. Thank you everyone for the feedback.

I had a little trouble getting to my subscriptions. If I went Apple>System Preferences>Apple ID>Media & Purchases I see two buttons titled Manage. The one at the lower part of the page is for Subscriptions. If I click that I get a message saying Cannot Connect To The App Store. If I click the one near the top of the page it takes me to my Apple ID summary and within that page I can select Manage and it takes me to my subscriptions. So, I can get there if I take the long route when I'd prefer to do the shorter one.

Same problem here. And I'm using a brand new MacBook Air M1 with a CLEAN install from the factory (I did not do a migration). If I click the "Manage" button at the bottom in "Media & Purchases" is takes me to the App Store app and says "Cannot connect to App Store". If I click on the top "Manage" button in "Media & Purchases" it takes me to the App Store app with the manage popup open and I can see my subscriptions but asks me for my Apple ID password twice (even though I'm already signed into the App Store) and then fails. I can't get any of my subscriptions to update.

Oddly I just tried to update this subscription via my iPad instead running the latest iOS and… no problem. Seems like some kind of bug in Big Sur. Note that I didn’t even do a migration with my new MacBook Air… it’s a clean factory install and I manually installed apps as needed and moved over my documents folder. So I don’t think it’s a configuration issue with my Mac.

Just had my first issue with the app store on my mac. Notified that an update for an app was available. Clicked the update button and it starts to download, but doesn't and then a notification "unable to install the file, please try again later".

If anyone's still having this problem, you can try an approach from threads last winter about this problem on Mojave:
1. Try: Force quit appstoreagent
2. Retry update download.

If still not working:
1. Sign out of App Store
2. Quit App Store
3. Force quit appstoreagent
4. Open App Store and login
5. Retry update download.
