Big-Sur install error, An internet connection is required to install macOS.

Make sure WiFi shows connected at the top right of the installer window, or plug in an Ethernet cable.
Not sure why but this seems to be the first macOS to require internet to be connected for installation. My installation of the beta's gave an error if I was not connected as well.

Restore from your backup and try again. But this time use ethernet instead of WiFi if that's what you're currently using.
Ok, I've solved it.. Basically, I did 2 things:
1)
- Open System Preferences from Dock or from the Apple Logo menu.
- Click on Network.
- Select your internet connection and click Advanced.
- Select the DNS tab and add 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to the list of DNS servers.
- Select the Proxies tab and make sure that all checkboxes are unticked, except the "Use Passive FTP Mode"(you can leave this on)
- Click OK.
- Restart your Mac
2) I've turned off the firewall on security and privacy.
Don't forget restart you mac after doing all those things.

Hi guys I solved this issue well it worked for me
let me know if it works for you
1: create big sur usb
2: download and instal big sur beta the latest one.
3: from start up enable booting from usb
4: plug in usb with big sur
5:do command R
6: in disk utility erase machintosh hd partition only
7: exit from disk utility and run big sur instal. At this point it won’t suggest internet connection
8: once done and it’s installed go to disk utility and erase machintosh hd data
9: exit and setup as new user go through the faff and it should be ok let me know if it works for you
I had the same problem and tried several solutions with nothing working until I started my macbook air in safe mode. Then I was able to complete the update and so far everything seems fine.
