This isn't a rant only a statement, I feel with the upgraded battery in both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus it would have been better if they put the iPad 12 watt charger as the regular charger for the iPhone 6's for faster charge times. I feel like the basic 1 amp charger just isn't big enough for charging quickly. Am I the only one who thinks this?

My 6+ isn't here yet, but I went ahead and ordered a 2.4amp charger off of amazon. I wouldn't have thought it would have charged faster, but there is proof in a different thread. A guy measured power draw.

My iPad Mini (1st gen) appears to have the same charger as the one that comes with the iPhone..

That's correct. My wife's Mini came with the smaller charger, the full size iPads and rMini come with the bigger one.

Revision: Apple assumes you have a newer iPad 🙂

My iPad (3rd Gen) charger is only 10w. Did Apple increase the charger wattage on the newer gen iPads?

Also, the 30-pin USB cable on my iPad is a heavier gauge than the ones that comes with iPhone. I only have the thinner gauge lightning cables. Does that reduce power transfer time in anyone's experience?
