I dont think that AirPlay was a bust at all, I use it pretty often with my Apple TV. But I do agree with the fact that AirPrint and the Beatles were a disappointment.

My mom is house bound, so Facetime is a huge saving grace for us when I'm clothing shopping for her. She can see the clothes in real time and decide what she likes. A lot of the mall has wifi, so it works.

Ping
Hyping up the Beatles so much
Airprint
iPhone clock issues
Antenna issue

White iPhone coming!
Oh wait.

White iPhone coming!
Oh wait!

White iPhone...

Add that to the list.

Ping or Ding or whatever it's called.

WINNNNAAAAHHHHH! (as we say in Boston)

Ping, Ding, Ring, Bling -- it all spells LAME!

Other than that, I thought they had a great year. They even somehow did't make AppleTV worse (though it's more of a lateral move, not an upward move), but it's cheaper now.

Exactly! Instead of a decent notification system we get ping and game center.

Ooooohhh. Forgot about Game Center. Also lame, but Ping is worse (or just more useless, really. It doesn't impact anything. It's just dumb).

Oh! One other -- iLife11. Ping is still worse, but the very first version of iPhoto managed to both DEFEATURE iPhoto AND eat your photo database (and be un-recoverable from Time Machine). Also, you get the NEW AND IMPROVED iWeb and iDVD (what? Nothing changed???)

Still, Ping is dumberest (I guess I can stop beating that drum).

1. Ping
2. Ping
3. Ping
4. Ping
...
...
...
... Ping!

Then after ping and ping:
- iPhone 4's antenna
- White iPhone 4
- Almost half a year to release iOS 4.2.1 for iPad

6th Gen iPod Nano. It is a cool little device, but to strip away features and keep the price at $150 is a bust to me. I would have bought one if it was a little cheaper or had more to offer. At that price I just bumped up to an iPod touch.

I own one, but I think it would've been better if they'd upgraded the storage capacities to 16GB and 32GB. Video wouldn't be worth viewing on the tiny device anyway. It's really just a Shuffle with a touchscreen.

I agree completely. The issue is when the shuffle is $50 why should I pay another $100 for a touchscreen and a bit more space.

I had to buy a new nano, and went a generation back. I need the physical buttons to switch songs while driving. Touch screen would be an issue, it seems to me.

Add another to the list for white iPhone 4. Glad I'm too impatient and went with black from the beginning and didn't wait for the white one. And Ping is definitely a failure too.

I approve of this message. They took a step back on this one. A Microsoft Zune offers better value and a more eye pleasing software if found at a discounted price. The 4th or 5th gen nano were the best to me. The 4th wasn't as glossy, but the 5th had more features. The best build quality was the 2nd gen nano which harks back to materials used on the iPod mini. The iPod nano watch gimmick will wear out eventually just like the Wii was to a hardcore gamer.

Also, Steve Jobs going on a rant about Android and its competitors during that financial report. He has the audacity to say 7 inch tablets are DOA and then still introduce us to a touchscreen nano with a 1.5+ screen?

I think you're taking that a bit out of context. Just sayin'. I know what you mean by having the screen so small, though. Maybe they'll redesign the iPod Classic into something like the 5th-gen Nano.

They feed the hype of something big.

The Beatles are big

The Beatles ON ITUNES ..... is not.

Maybe financially its been a succes but in 95% of people 's mind ( percentage can be argued) its a total fail.

I guess you're right, people who love the Beatles already must have had their music on iTunes, and those who didn't well, it wasn't that critical for them either.

Ping has got to be high on the list, but also the latest nano seems like a step backwards, even with the cool (albeit slightly pointless) multi touch display. But for me, the iPhone 3g should get a mention here, as Apple turned an almost perfect phone into a pebble-like paperweight. I was upgrading to the iphone 4 anyway, so i decided to give my 3G to the mother, but nevertheless i had used it for a month or so on ios4.0, during which time it was so slow that using it for anything other than texting or calls was pointless. But after seeing my mum over xmas, i had a look at her 3G, which was still on 4.1. In a word? CRAP. I'm not sure whether the ridiculous speed and general awesomeness of my iphone 4 has distorted how fast the 3g actually is, but im sure when i had it back on 3.x it was much faster than now. i realise that there is a limit to what you can do with the hardware of the 3g, but surely Apple would have tested 4.0 on the device to make sure it was still usable before recommending the update?
Oh yeah, and the whole beatles hype thing. That was just such overkill

Using this definition of bust:
Bust: A total failure, a complete waste of time.

Post you top 4 ( 5,6, etc) or you opinion on other's top

1: Facetime
2: The Beattles on itunes
3: AirPrint
4: AirPlay

Airprint's not a bust, it's been quite useful to me at home, and it's only going to get better as more support becomes available. so it's not a total failure. Again, i've made great use of airplay going to my mates with my ATV, and streaming pics or music off my iphone or video too, again, that's only going to get better when 3rd party apps can stream video too, which is coming this year. again not a total failure. Ping is a total failure tho, as no matter what, people won't go back to that.

but...... it got GAME CENTER !!!

again, not a total failure, loving playing multiplayer games with my friends via this, even with VOIP on it, seeing what achievements my friends have got too, always good. a good start with this and it will only get better.

how is this a failure when you contradict yourself saying financially it's been a success???!!!?! it's been a win all round, the record company made money from the sales and the customers got the beatles songs and whatnot through iTunes for their collection..

Not being funny, but you REALLY need to engage your brain before calling things a total bust!!! lol. I call your OP a bust.

All your arguments relate personnal experiences, making them invalid.

For the beatle on itunes, who cares. That was my point. Its not because you make money out of something that it is BIG or interesting.

I call your post a bust for not respecting other's opinion, because only opinions are posted here. Not facts.
