True, there is noise, but a digital signal can withstand some noise before error correction has to kick in. And even if there is a lot of error correcting going on, as long as your devices can keep up with the errors and you don't see or hear them, why bother with an expensive cable? Let error correction do its job and go the cheap route.
You have to remember Error Correction is just best guess on what should of gone in those damage location. as such an error corrected signal will not be as good as signal that does not require any correcting so to speak. Best it is still best guess but like I said 99.9% of the people out there will not noticed.
I am amount that 99.9% who would not noticed so I do go the cheaper route. Plus I try to limit it to 6' if at all possible.
